(Eagle News) — The ruling party Partido Demokratikong Pilipino is holding a “top-level leadership meeting” on Thursday, Aug. 2.

The meeting takes place following reports of several of its members allegedly going rogue and electing their own set of party officials.

But in a television interview, PDP-Laban president Senator Koko Pimentel said the meeting, which he will preside, was a regular meeting conducted by the party.

He said he has also asked lawyers for what actions to take against the “unauthorized party name use” by the group led by Rogelio Garcia, who claimed he was the newly-elected as PDP-Laban president at an assembly in Quezon City.

Pimentel denied this, however, saying the assembly was not party-sanctioned.

In a Tweet, the PDP-Laban said the meeting will be attended by congressmen, governors, mayors, among others.
