(Eagle News)–Fifty-three active police officers are engaged in the recycling of illegal drugs, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency chief Aaron Aquino said on Thursday, Sept. 26.
In an interview over radio dzmm, Aquino said authorities came up with the number after consolidating the names on the lists of PDEA, the Philippine National Police and of former Criminal Investigation and Detection Group chief Benjamin Magalong.
Magalong reportedly revealed the names in an executive session in the Senate, which had invited him to testify on the problems in the Bureau of Corrections.
Earlier, National Capital Region Police Office chief Guillermo Eleazar said 16 policemen who were no longer in active service were engaged in the scheme, which allegedly saw one Guia Gomez Castro buying the recycled illegal drugs from the policemen.
Senator Bong Go has said President Rodrigo Duterte would announce the names of the “ninja cops” after “cross-checking.”
