Panelo to Trillanes: “Stop acting like an anxious puppy”

(Eagle News)–“Stop acting like an anxious puppy.”

Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo had this to say to Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, who he said “keeps on engaging the media by claiming that he must continue seeking the protection of the Senate since the President has personally ordered for his arrest.”

“If he truly believes that there is no basis for his arrest and that he is practically doing service to the Filipino people by continuously criticizing the President, he should simply take legal action on the matter and stop acting like an anxious puppy pretending to be a political target by the President all the time,” Panelo said.

According to Panelo, Trillanes was “now claiming that his life is in danger by releasing a supposed video footage showing that an unidentified vehicle is casing his house,” upon noticing that  his “supposed arbitrary arrest drama is losing media traction.

He said the supposed threats to Trillanes’ life were “figments of his imagination.”

He noted that “there has never been any concrete report or incident that there is an attempt against his life due to his continued opposition to this administration.”

“These are all publicity stunts of Senator Trillanes not only to besmirch the reputation of the President, but also to milk publicity for himself,” Panelo said.

“The President has already categorically stated that Senator Antonio Trillanes IV will not be arrested without a warrant issued by the court,” he added.

Trillanes has been holed up in the Senate since Sept. 4, when news of  Proclamation No .572 declaring void ab initio the amnesty granted to him for the Oakwood mutiny and Peninsula Manila siege broke out.

Trillanes said a few days later that he would leave the Senate, only to change his mind after alleging motorcycle-riding men tailed his vehicle that had gone out only for a refuel.

He then produced footage of a vehicle that he said was conducting a surveillance of his house.

President Rodrigo Duterte said no one was interested in arresting Trillanes.
