(Eagle News)—-Retired Army Major General Jovito Palparan has been transferred to the New Bilibid Prison.
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said the transfer took place at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3.
Earlier, Branch 15 of the Malolos Regional Trial Court junked the bid of Palparan, who was under military custody, to block the transfer.
The court cited SC-OCA Circular No. 163-2013, which directs all trial court judges to cause the immediate transfer of convicted persons to the NBP, regardless of the pendency of a motion for reconsideration.
Palparan and two others have been convicted of serious illegal detention and kidnapping of University of the Philippines students Karen Empeño and Sherlyn Cadapan.
