Palace: President Duterte “thoroughly” investigating corruption in PCSO

(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte is still “thoroughly” investigating the “massive corruption” in the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, the  Palace said on Monday, July 29.

In an interview over radio dzmm, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said Duterte, however, has promised to come out with the names of those involved in the scheme “as soon as possible.”

In the meantime, he said  PCSO outlets will remain closed.

Asked how long they would be closed, Panelo said: “Si Presidente naman mabilis, eh. Kita mo mabilis agad ‘yong order niyang ipasarado.”

“Until such time na hindi pa natatapos ang imbestigasyon, sarado muna lahat,” he said.

Duterte made the announcement of the termination of all forms of gambling under the PCSO’s mandate in a video posted on RTVM’s YouTube account.

The President said covered by the order were STL, lotto, peryahan ng bayan and keno.

He said he would not honor any court that would stop him from investigating or from implementing the stoppage order, saying that some courts were involved in the “massive corruption.”
