Palace: President Duterte feeling “much better”

(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte is feeling “much better,” and only needs to rest and take some medication, the Palace said.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, doctors have already ruled out any surgical procedure to address his back pain, which they concluded was   due to muscle spasms after he underwent a magnetic resonance imaging procedure.

“As the public already knows, the Chief Executive suffered from a motorcycle accident several years ago, and from another minor mishap involving the same type of motor vehicle just last Wednesday, October 16. The attending doctor said that there is a strong likelihood that these incidents may have caused or possibly aggravated the current pain he is suffering from in his lower back,” Panelo said.

He said the public had no reason to worry as the President will “continue to perform his presidential duties which include attending to local and foreign engagements in the following days, with the same passion and dedication, in obedience to the constitutional command to serve and protect the Filipino people.”

Duterte had to cut short his trip to Japan due to  the “unbearable pain” in his spine near the pelvic bone following his motorcycle accident in the Presidential Security Compound on Oct. 16.

Duterte was represented by his daughter Sara in the remaining events in the country instead.
