Palace condemns “in strongest possible terms” blasts at Sulu cathedral

(Eagle News)—The Palace on Sunday, Jan. 27, condemned “in the strongest possible terms” the twin blasts at a Sulu cathedral that left several dead.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said the “armed forces of the Philippines will rise to the challenge and crush these godless criminals.”

“We will pursue to the ends of the earth the ruthless perpetrators behind this dastardly crime until every killer is brought to justice and put behind bars. The law will give them no mercy,” he said.

Panelo also condoled “with the families of the victims that perished in this tragedy even as we attend to the injured and give succor to their families.”

The twin blasts at Mount Carmel cathedral in Jolo town came after the Commission on Elections deemed ratified the Bangsamoro Organic Law, which aims to replace the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao with a more autonomous Bangsamoro.

Sulu had rejected the ratification of the BOL, which President Rodrigo Duterte had said was the only solution to the problems of Mindanao.
