Palace commends Ateneo’s dismissal of student in viral videos

Notes that probe of the others involved in bullying still ongoing

(Eagle News)–The Palace has commended Ateneo for its dismissal of the student seen physically and emotionally assaulting other boys in viral videos, reiterating bullying should not be tolerated nor condoned in any way.

In a statement on Sunday, Dec. 23, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo noted, however, that the probe “as regards the rest of those involved” has yet to be concluded.

As for the parents and the guardians, Panelo said they should “keep guiding their children towards righteousness and to set a good example of uprightness for the youth to emulate.”

“We cannot stress enough how important it is for us to spend quality time with them during their growing years, especially in a generation where modern technology has become a fierce competitor for the youth’s time and attention,” Panelo said.

On Sunday, Dec. 23, Ateneo announced it had dismissed the boy, who  was seen bullying other students, in at least four viral videos.

The Philippine Taekwondo Association has also recommended an indefinite ban on the student, who was allegedly a member of the taekwondo varsity team in Ateneo.
