Palace calls on Mindanao LGUs to monitor areas following 7.2-magnitude quake in Davao Oriental

(Eagle News)–The Palace on Saturday, Dec. 30, called on local government units in Mindanao to closely monitor their respective areas following the 7.2- magnitude earthquake that struck Davao Oriental.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said in a statement these LGUs should also take “precautionary measures, particularly those in the coastal areas, in view of possible aftershocks, tsunami or both..”

“We ask everyone to be alert and cooperate as we pray for the safety of all,” Panelo said.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology issued a tsunami alert on at least eleven provinces following the earthquake
