Palace: Albayalde still has “full trust, confidence” of President Duterte

(Eagle News)–Philippine National Police Chief Oscar Albayalde still has the “full trust and confidence” of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo issued the statement on Thursday, Sept. 26, amid reports high-ranking police officials were engaged in illegal drugs recycling.

There are also rumors Albayalde was among those mentioned by former Criminal Investigation and Detection Group chief Benjamin Magalong as engaged in illegal drugs activities in a Senate executive session last week.

“Until such time as the President says otherwise, he remains in full trust and confidence of the Commander-in-Chief,” Panelo said.

He added he believes Albayalde when he told President Duterte himself that the so-called syndicate of “ninja cops” had already been stopped during the time of former PNP chief Bato dela Rosa.

“Why? Because Gen. Albayalde has developed a reputation for a man of integrity,” Panelo said.
