(Eagle News) — Expect rains to persist in parts of the country in the next few days.

This is according to the  Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, which announced that a new  low-pressure area outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility would continue to enhance the southwest monsoon.

In its recent advisory, PAGASA said the enhanced “Habagat” brought about by the LPA located 925 kilometers east northeast of Basco, Batanes will bring “scattered to widespread monsoon rains” over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, CALABARZON and the Mindoro provinces.

“Residents of these areas, especially those living near river channels, in low-lying areas, and in mountainous areas, are still advised to take appropriate actions against possible flooding and landslide, coordinate with local DRRM offices, and continue monitoring for updates,” PAGASA said.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said the center of Tropical Storm “Leepi” was  now estimated at 1,895 kilometers east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon, outside PAR, and “has no direct effect on any part of the country.”

As of 8 a.m., PAGASA said the tropical depression near southeastern China has intensified into Tropical Storm “Bebinca” and was situated  955 kilometers west of extreme Northern Luzon, outside PAR.

“Bebinca,” however, PAGASA said, was moving “east southeast slowly and will not directly affect any part of the country.”
