PAGASA monitors two active tropical cyclones outside PAR

(Eagle News)–The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration is monitoring two weather disturbances outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

PAGASA said a tropical depression was spotted 610 kilometers west southwest of Iba, Zambales, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph.

It is almost stationary.

The weather bureau also spotted Severe Tropical Storm “Halong” 3180 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon.

It is packing maximum sustained winds of up to 140 kph near the center and up to 170 kph.

PAGASA said the  trough of the Tropical Depression is affecting Central and Southern Luzon, and the frontal system was affecting Northern Luzon.

Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region and Cagayan Valley Region will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the frontal system, while Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Cavite and Batangas will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the trough.

Caraga and Davao Region will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms because of the Intertropical Convergence Zone, PAGASA said.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms.
