(Eagle News) — Representative Karlo Nograles of Davao City’s first district is the new Cabinet Secretary, taking his oath on Monday, Nov. 5, to fill in the position left vacant by former cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco who is running for Bohol governor.
Nograles himself confirmed that he had already taken his oath, and thanked President Rodrigo Duterte for his confidence in him.
“As a fellow Mindanaoan and kapwa probinsyano, I hope to contribute to government efforts to bring development to the regions through different programs that place an emphasis on providing more economic opportunities outside Metro Manila,” he said in a statement.
Nograles said that his “knowledge and experience” as former chair of the House Appropriations Committee will be “put to good use” in his new position.
“I hope to hit the ground running and do whatever I can to help the President,” he said.
House Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo also said Nograles was a good choice for the position.
“I am sure he will do very well in his new position, and that he will be a valuable member of the President’s team,” she said.
