(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte won’t be resting, after all.
Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo made the clarification on Monday night, saying the President had actually declined the advice of his “well-meaning” friends for him to take a break.
Panelo earlier said the President would take a rest for three days this week and fly to his home in Davao.
“While the demands of pressing work that go along with the highest position of the land are unceasing, the people can rest assured that the President can keep up with the same and is in the best position to know how he can maintain to be on top of his health,” Panelo said.
Panelo had made the announcement of Duterte’s supposed three-day break citing information from Senator Bong Go, Duterte’s former longtime aide.
The announcement came after Duterte complained of back pain following a motorcycle accident on Oct. 16.
Doctors dismissed it as merely due to muscle spasms.
