No Filipino infected with COVID-19 in South Korea yet, DOH clarifies

(Eagle News) — The Department of Health on Monday, Feb. 24, clarified there was still no Filipino infected with the novel coronavirus in South Korea.

Health Assistant Secretary Maria Rosario Vergeire made the clarification in an interview with reporters in the Palace.

Earlier in the day, Vergeire told GMA News Unang Balita that they received information about a Filipino in South Korea being infected with COVID-19 but that no other details were available.

“Mayroon pong ibinibigay sa aming impormasyon kahapon na mayroon ho tayong nag-positive na case sa South Korea pero ‘yung buong detalye po ay hindi pa natin nakukuha,” she had said.

So far, there are confirmed Filipino COVID-19 cases in Japan, United Arab Emirates,Hong Kong and Singapore.

The Department of Foreign Affairs has advised Filipinos to delay non-essential travel to South Korea, which has seen a spike to over 600 of COVID-19 cases.
