More areas under Signal No. 2 as “Jenny” threatens Aurora

(Eagle News)–More areas are now under Signal No. 2 as Tropical Storm “Jenny” maintains its strength and threatens the Aurora province.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said  Isabela, Aurora, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan are under Signal No. 2 with “Jenny” estimated  210 km east northeast of Infanta, Quezon or 210 km east of Baler, Aurora.

Signal No. 1 is hoisted over Cagayan, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Ilocos Norte, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Rizal, northern portion of Quezon including Polillo Islands and Alabat Island, Cavite, Laguna, Camarines Norte, northeastern portion of Camarines Sur, Catanduanes.

“Jenny,” which is packing maximum  sustained winds of up to 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph, is moving westward at 35 kph and  is expected to make landfall in Aurora between 9 p.m.  tonight and 1a.m. tomorrow.

Between tonight and tomorrow morning, intermittent to frequent moderate to heavy rains may be experienced over Cordillera Administrative Region, Isabela, Cagayan, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, and northern portion of Quezon (including Polillo Island).

Light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains, on the other hand, may affect Metro Manila, Central Visayas, Western Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula and the rest of Luzon.

Areas under Signal No. 2 are advised to take precautionary measures against potentially strong winds while occasional gusty conditions may occur over areas under Signal No. 1, PAGASA said.

Occasional gusty conditions may also occur in Visayas and other areas of Luzon due to the southwest monsoon.

Sea travel remains risky over the seaboards of areas under a storm signal and seaboards of Batanes due to potentially rough sea conditions, PAGASA said.
