MMDA eyes dry run of ban on driver-only vehicles on Edsa during rush hours next week

(Eagle News)—The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority is looking to hold a dryrun of the ban on vehicles with only drivers on Edsa next week.

This was announced by  MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia in an interview over GMA’s Unang Balita on Thursday, Aug. 9.

According to Garcia, the idea was to allow motorists to share their rides with other people.

“Puwede asawa o pamilya, kung isa lang ang pupuntahan niyo, baka puwede magsabay na kayo. Kung kayo ay magkaklase o office-mates, ‘yung tipong ganon,” he said.

Earlier, the MMDA said based on a study, 70 percent of vehicles on EDSA during rush hours were driven by people with no passengers.
