According to him, the declaration of martial law was a means to ensure the safety of Mindanaoans.

When they hear people chanting ‘no to martial law,’ he said they feel that these people were also saying, “Let there no peace in Mindanao.”

“If you are not a terrorist, why will you object to this? Why will you be afraid? Are we afraid? No we are not. We feel safe. We feel secured. Because we trust our government and that is just how it should be,” Samontina added.
