Military says no threat monitored for Duterte’s SONA

(Eagle News)–The military on Sunday, July 21, gave the assurance there was no monitored threat of attacks from rebels on President Rodrigo Duterte’s State of the Nation Address on Monday, July 22.

In a statement,  AFP spokesperson Colonel Noel Detoya said, however, that military forces “will  continue to be on a proactive stance against all threats of violence.”

Detoyato also called on citizens to report to authorities any suspicious individuals.

“The fight against terrorism and the preservation of peace are a shared responsibility of everyone so we should all do our part in this whole of nation approach towards peace and development,” he said.

Security forces have been placed on full alert in time for the President’s speech at the Batasang Pambansa.

The Quezon City government has suspended classes in both public and private schools for the event.

The suspension applies to all levels.
