Military official: Number of BIFF killed in clashes with military in Maguindanao rises to 44

(Eagle News)–At least 44 Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters have been killed in clashes with military troops in Maguindanao as of Saturday.

In a radio interview, Lieutenant Colonel Gerry Besana, commander of the 6th Infantry Division, Civil Military Operations of the Philippine Army, said that the number was an increase from the 23 recorded last Friday.

He said 26 have so far been hurt in the skirmishes in Datu Unsay Ampatuan and Datu Saudi Ampatuan.

He said the clashes are ongoing as of Sunday.
