(Eagle News)– The Manila International Airport Authority on Thursday, Dec. 27, gave the assurance it would address all the recommendations given by the United States’ Department of Homeland Security for security measures at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport to be improved.
In a press conference, MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal said of the 16 recommendations, seven have already been completed.
“There is no cause for alarm even as we put in place security enhancements…There is nothing among these recommendations that cannot be addressed,” the MIAA said.
“All points raised by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) auditors have either been addressed or are in the process of being addressed,” it added.
In an advisory released on Wednesday, the DHS said the NAIA “does not maintain and carry out effective security consistent with the security standards established by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).”
It also required all airlines traveling from the US to Manila to advise their passengers in writing about the security situation in the Manila airport.
