Metro Manila mayors given 60 days to clear streets of obstructions

(Eagle News)–Metro Manila mayors have been given 60 days to clear streets of obstructions.

Interior Undersecretary for Operations Epimaco Densing said a memorandum order to this effect was already being drafted by the agency, days after President Rodrigo Duterte ordered Interior Secretary Eduardo Año to take action on local government units that do not “reclaim” public roads.”

The President issued the directive to Año on Monday, July 25, during his fourth State of the Nation Address.

Prior to the SONA, first-time Manila Mayor Isko Moreno had been reaping praises on social media for his efforts to clean the city.

He had vowed to “restore” Manila to its “former glory.”

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian on Thursday, July 25, also urged Duterte to certify the Proof-of-Parking-Space bill as urgent to ease congestion in Metro Manila roads.
