Medialdea files libel case vs columnist Ramon Tulfo

(Eagle News)–Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea has filed a libel case against columnist Ramon Tulfo, also the Special Envoy for Public Diplomacy to China.

The charges came after Medialdea wrote The Manila Times, where Tulfo is a columnist, slamming Tulfo’s  July 25 column titled “Self-purgation should start with the Cabinet.”

In the column, Tulfo accused Medialdea of sitting for one year on the appeal of one  Felicito Mejorado for the claim of the P272-million government reward money for the one who provided information on a smuggling operation in Bataan.

Tulfo, citing Mejorado’s account, also claimed the P72 million one Vianney Garol asked Mejorado for the release of the reward money was for Medialdea.

“I cannot overemphasize the importance of discernment and to take things coming from Tulfo with a grain, if not a kilo, of salt,” Medialdea had said in the letter.

“All I can say is there will be more (cases) coming,” Medialdea said on Friday, Aug. 2.
