One of the personalities charged in connection with the P6.4-billion shabu shipment mess maintained his innocence on Thursday, a day after he was arrested by authorities.

“Inosente tayo. Wala tayong dapat ikatakot. Alam kong mananalo kami,” Mark Taguba told the media at the National Bureau of Investigation headquarters where he has been detained since his arrest on Wednesday night.

He said his defense was airtight, but refused to detail what this was.

He said there was already a pending case in court.

“Sabi ko sa pamilya ko, relax lang. Harapin na lang natin ang problema, nandyan na yan,” Taguba said.

Even as he maintained his innocence, Taguba said he would consult his lawyer about whether or not to turn state witness.

On Wednesday, the NBI served the warrant of arrest against Taguba, who was at that time under protective custody in the Senate ‘s Office of the Sergeant at Arms.

NBI Director Dante Gierran said in a statement that the warrant was served against the Customs broker who facilitated the importation of the more than 600 kilograms of shabu in May at 6:30 p.m.

It was Branch 46 of the Manila Regional Trial Court that issued the warrant earlier in the day in connection with a drug importation case filed against him.

Also ordered arrested were Li Guang Feng alias Manny Li, Dong Yi Shen alias Kenneth Dong, Eirene Mae Tatad, Teejay Marcellana, Chen I-Min, Jhu Ming Jyun and Chen Rong Huan, the NBI said.

Chen Julong alias Richard Tan was excluded from the warrant as he has filed a motion for determination of probable cause before the court.
