(Eagle News)– The chief of police of Mandaluyong and several other policemen have been relieved over a “misencounter” that left two people dead and two others in critical condition.
National Capital Region Police Office chief Oscar Albayalde said Senior Superintendent Moises Villaceran Jr and 10 other policemen from the Police Community Precinct 1 have been sacked after they shot at a vehicle, a Mitsubishi Adventure, they thought carried suspects in another shooting incident in the city.
It turned out the vehicle was carrying a patient who was about to be brought to the hospital.
The patient, Jonalyn Ambaan, had been shot by an LPG delivery man earlier after she tried to intervene in an argument in Barangay Addition Hills.
Responding policemen shot at the vehicle after they were told by barangay watchmen who responded earlier that the suspect who shot Ambaan was in the vehicle.
Some of the watchmen were allegedly the first to shoot at the vehicle.
Ambaan and her companion Jomar Hayawon were killed in the incident.
Eliseo Aluad Jr. and Danilo Santiago were also injured.
The incident is still under investigation.
