Malacanang suspends ERC chair for 90 days

(Eagle News) — Malacanang has suspended the Energy Regulatory Commission chair.

Jose Vicente Salazar was suspended for 90 days.

Salazar faces a complaint before the Civil Service Commission.

In their complaint affidavit filed in April, commissioners Alfredo Non, Gloria Victoria Yap-Taruc, Josefina Patricia Magpale-Asirit and Geronimo Sta. Ana accused Salazar of misconduct after he appointed Ronaldo Gomez as officer in charge-executive director while he was on leave.

This despite the fact, they said, that current ERC directors Atty. Floresinda Baldo-Digal, Atty. Debora Anastacia Layugan, and Atty. Maria Corazon Gines should be the next in line.

Gomez is the Chief Energy Regulation Officer at the ERC Mindanao Field Office.
