Malacañang clarifies possible US travel alert

MANILA, Philippines – Presidential Communications Secretary Sonny Coloma clarified the statement made by the Department of Health that it is expecting that the Philippines will be included in the Level 2 travel alert of the United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

According to Coloma, if ever the Philippines is included in the said travel alert, said inclusion is based only on the case of an American woman who contracted Zika virus in the Philippines.

On the other hand, the World Health Organization announced that there are signs of local transmission of the Zika virus in the country, but there are still no instances of microcephaly.
