MANILA, Feb. 2 (PNA) — The case of the bus driver who bumped into traffic barriers in EDSA while racing against another bus will be heard on Feb. 9, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said Tuesday.
According to the Board, the hearing will take place in its headquarters in Quezon City.
So far, the LTFRB has already issued a show cause order to the bus’ operator and driver to explain in writing why the bus driver’s Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) should not be cancelled or suspended.
The said act was recorded on video and went viral on social media on Monday.
In the video, two buses were caught racing against each other when one of the buses, later identified as a Joanna Jesh bus, turned left and bumped into the plastic barriers eventually ‘causing a domino effect’.
The barriers were then thrown onto oncoming traffic but luckily did not hurt nearby motorists or damaged any vehicle.
According to the video’s owner Ian Santos, neither of the buses made an effort to stop until their attention was called by the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) personnel.
The bus driver was later identified as Ruel Labin who drove a bus unit with the plate number TYR 744. (PNA)
