LPA off Aurora develops into tropical depression

(Eagle News)–The low pressure area east of Aurora has developed into a tropical depression.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said as of 10 a.m. today, the center of TD “Perla” was estimated 1,190 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora or 1,120 km east of Casiguran, Aurora.

It is packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph, moving west northwest at 20 kph.

No tropical cyclone wind signal is in effect but “Perla,” PAGASA said, may still bring adverse weather condition over Batanes, Cagayan (including Babuyan Islands) and Apayao beginning Friday evening or Saturday morning.

Sea travel is risky, especially for small sea vessels, over the northern and western seaboards of Northern Luzon due to potentially rough sea conditions associated with the northeasterly surface windflow.
