Lacson stands by criticisms of lawmakers he says are out to extend their terms through Charter Change

(Eagle News)– Senator Panfilo Lacson on Sunday stood by his criticisms of lawmakers he said were out to take advantage of Charter Change to extend their terms and ensure there would be no elections.

This was even after House Deputy Speaker Fredenil Castro criticized the senator, who he said should not question the lawmakers with “speculative statements.”

“Kung ganun kakapal ‘yong pagmumukha nila, eh ano ang magpe-prevent? Kakapal lalo ang pagmumukha nila kapag nag-holdover na sila,” Lacson had said on Thursday.

In his Twitter post on Sunday, Lacson “apologized” to Castro.

“Pasensya na kay Cong. Castro kung nasaktan siya sa sinabi ko…Dapat pala ang sinabi ko, dobleng kapal ang mukha,” he said.

Lacson is set to file a resolution seeking to convene the Senate as a Constitutional Assembly separate from the  House of Representatives to amend the Charter and ensure a shift to a federalism type of government.
