(Eagle News) — Senator Panfilo Lacson on Wednesday, June 19, said the office of the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. in Ilocos Region is housed in a building owned by Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.
Duque is ex-officio chair of PhilHealth.
According to Lacson, he has a copy of the contract of lease for the building in Tapuac district in Dagupan City in Pangasinan.
“If this is not conflict of interest I don’t know what is,” Lacson said.
Lacson had earlier questioned why Duque was not covered by President Rodrigo Duterte’s order for PhilHealth officials to submit their courtesy resignation.
The order came following revelations WellMed Dialysis Center in Quezon City was claiming the PhilHealth benefits of deceased patients.
WellMed co-owner Bryan Sy, whistleblowers Edwin Roberto and Liezel Aileen de Leon have been charged in connection with the ghost dialysis mess, along with seven other WellMed officials.
