Korea donates 130 patrol vehicles to Philippine National Police

(Eagle News)– The Republic of Korea  donated a total of 130 police vehicles to the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday, May 29.

During the event, Korean Ambassador Han Dong-man led the turnover of 49 Hyundai Elantra and 81 Starex vans to PNP Chief Dir. Oscar Albayalde.

The donations are part of the “Enhancing the Criminal Investigation Capability of the Philippine National Police” project.

The project is led by  the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Korean Embassy.

This project aims to promote a safer environment by improving the capabilities of the police force.

According to Ambassador Han, the project also aims to build stronger ties between Korea and the Philippines.

“The Republic of Korea and the Republic of the Philippines are close friends. Today’s celebration will be a stepping stone to further advancing the peace and bilateral relations of our countries,” Dong-man said.

“Korea will not enjoy the peace, democracy, and economic prosperity without the great sacrifice of the Filipino war veterans. It is time for Korea to pay our debt,” he added.

The 130 police vehicles will be distributed to different PNP investigative units and city police offices.

“These police cars will be very useful in maintaining law and order particularly in Metro Manila,” Ambassador Dong-man said. Jodi Bustos
