(Eagle News)–The Palace on Saturday said each family who lost a loved one in the deadly vehicular incident in Occidental Mindoro received P20,000 from President Rodrigo Duterte.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said those who were injured were also each given cellphones and P10000 by the chief executive.

According to Roque, the amounts were apart from those they would receive from the Passenger Accident Management and Insurance Agency (PAMI) starting Monday, March 26.

The families of those killed, he said, would receive P200,000 each, while those who were injured would each receive P20,000.

“The President has directed transport officials to ensure the safety of Filipinos traveling to the provinces during his visit to Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro, where he personally expressed his sympathy to the families of the victims and checked the injured of the bus crash,” Roque said.

Roque was referring to the President’s visit to the site where a Dimple Transport bus fell off a cliff, killing 19 and injuring 21.
