“Karen” now outside PAR, but another typhoon, “Lawin” to enter this afternoon

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) — Typhoon “Karen, international name Sarika, has left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), but another strong typhoon is forecast to enter the country today, Monday, October 17.

According to PAGASA, the country’s weather bureau, typhoon Karen is already outside PAR as of 4:30 a.m..

But another strong typhoon outside the PAR with an international name “Haima” is expected to enter the country this Monday afternoon.

Once it enters the PAR it will be given the local name Typhoon “Lawin”.

In its 11:00 AM update, Typhoon Lawin is located at 1,265 km east of Visayas with the maximum sustained winds up to 150 kph and gustiness of up to 185 kph. It is currently moving west-northwest at 22 kph.
