(Eagle News) — Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre said on Tuesday that a second DNA test on the body found in Gapan, Nueva Ecija on September 5 was underway.

In a radio interview, Aguirre said he would ask the National Bureau of Investigation to do this.

According to Aguirre, although many court decisions give a lot of weight on DNA test results, “there are instances these are discredited if the procedure was wrong or if the specimen was tainted.”

Earlier, the parents of Reynaldo de Guzman, who was earlier believed to be the boy found in Kinamatayang Kabayo Creek in San Roque village, asked for another DNA test to be done on the body.

This was after the Philippine National Police said that results of the DNA test they conducted found that the corpse could not have been a biological son of either of De Guzman’s parents.
