JUST IN: Work in gov’t offices, classes in M. Manila suspended effective 3 p.m. today

(Eagle News)–The Palace has suspended work in government offices and classes in Metro Manila on Friday, Aug. 2, effective 3 p.m. today.

In a memorandum signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, the Palace said the suspension of classes applies to all levels in both public and private schools.

“Those government agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services shall continue with their operations and render the necessary services,” the  Palace said.

The suspension of work in private offices and companies, the Palace said, is left to the discretion of their respective heads.

The weather bureau has said monsoon rains will prevail in parts of the country today as the southwest monsoon affects Western Luzon.

A yellow rainfall alert has been hoisted over Metro Manila and nearby areas.
