Police team leader in Mandaluyong “misencounter” surfaces

(Eagle News) — The team leader of policemen involved in the “misencounter” in Mandaluyong City on December 28, 2017 finally surfaced on Wednesday.

A report from dzbb said Senior Inspector Maria Cristina Vasquez came forward days after the incident that saw two people–Jonalyn Ambaon and Jomar Hayawon—killed.

Vasquez and nine other policemen– Police Officer 2 Nel Songalia and PO1s Kim Tinbusay, Bryan Nicolas, Julius Livuen, Ariel Uribe, Jave Arellano, Tito Danao, Mark Castillo and Albert Buwag—are facing homicide and frustrated homicide charges in connection with the incident.

Also facing charges are barangay watchmen Wilmer Duron, Ernesto Fajardo and Gilbert Gulpo.

Duron and Gulpo  allegedly fed the responding policemen the information the suspect in an earlier shooting in the city was on board a white Mitsubishi Adventure.

This prompted the lawmen to shoot at the vehicle, which turned out to be carrying a woman who had been shot instead.
