The Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 150 has ordered the arrest of Senator Antonio Trillanes IV.
This was after Judge Elmo Alameda granted the Department of Justice’s very urgent ex-parte omnibus motion dated Sept. 7 that also sought for a hold departure order against the senator.
The judge also set bail for Trillanes at P200,000, the same bail amount the court set in April 2010, when the court first allowed him to post bail for the charge of rebellion.
Trillanes’ contention is that he no longer faces a case there nor in Branch 148 of the Makati RTC as the cases were dismissed in 2011.
The DOJ said, however, that he still faces the cases in connection with the Oakwood mutiny and Peninsula Manila siege in 2003 and 2007, respectively as the dismissal was “anchored” on the amnesty granted to him.
The amnesty has been declared void ab initio by Proclamation No. 572.
The proclamation cited Trillanes’ alleged failure to submit an official application for the amnesty and his alleged failure to make an express admission of guilt for the crimes committed as bases for the declaration.
