(Eagle News)–“I’ve never been happier now.”

This was the message of Nicanor Faeldon to reporters on Thursday, Sept. 5, when asked how he felt after being sacked as Bureau of Corrections Director-General by President Rodrigo Duterte.

According to Faeldon, who had refused to answer questions from the media prior to the hearing, “wala nang yoke sa balikat.”

“You can soundly sleep,” he said.

President Duterte announced the dismissal of Faeldon in a speech on Wednesday, Sept. 4.

The dismissal came following the release of convicts of heinous crimes under the Good Conduct and Time Allowance law, including three convicted in the rape-slay of the Chiong sisters, and the near-release of former Calauan, Laguna Mayor Antonio Sanchez.

Sanchez was convicted of the rape and murder of Eileen Sarmenta and of the killing of her friend Allan Gomez.
