Incoming House Speaker considers drug-test for lawmakers

QUEZON City, Philippines – Incoming House Speaker Representative Pantaleon Alvarez is considering a mandatory drug test for all members of the House of Representatives at the opening of the 17th Congress in July. If any lawmaker is found to be positive for illegal drug use, he or she will be placed under rehabilitation. One of the aims of the incoming Duterte administration is to solve and to curb altogether — the country’s illegal drug problem.
