Immigration, police authorities now looking into Lacson’s claims about alleged drug smuggler Jacky Co

(Eagle News)–Immigration and police authorities are looking into Senator Panfilo Lacson’s claims Chinese national Jacky Co was behind the 276 kilograms of shabu seized from the Manila International Container Port in March.

In a television interview, Immigration Spokesperson Dana Sandoval said Commissioner Jaime Morente had ordered a probe into Lacson’s allegations Co  managed to enter the country even if he was on the Interpol list.

Philippine National Police spokesperson Colonel Bernard Banac, for his part, said the police were looking at Co’s background.

“Sa kasalukuyan, tinitingnan natin ‘yung record natin tungkol sa pagkakakilanlan ng taong ito,” he said.

Lacson had said Co, whose real name was Zhijian Xu, was engaged in the illegal drug trade and was linked to kidnapping syndicate in the Philippines.

Lacson made the revelation as he slammed continued corruption in government, with the tara system in the Bureau of Customs, for instance, remaining unchecked.
