HONOLULU, Hawaii (Eagle News Service) – A year after the very first Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church of Christ) Aid for Humanity project in American Samoa, Church members in the island territory held a free clothing drive in the island territory’s capital in Pago Pago.

The free clothing drive was held at the INC’s place of worship in the capital on Oct. 28.

Visitors young and old took advantage of the opportunity to receive nice clothes that they needed for school, work, or other occasions. The guests were also given refreshments to counter the heat and humidity as the summer season approaches throughout the Southern Hemisphere.

INC minister Ed Caba who is currently assigned in American Samoa, said the INC members also took the time to teach the young visitors the importance of being responsible as well as respecting their elders.

The INC event held at the INC’s place of worship in Pago Pago aims to reach out to people, as well as to children in need.

The Aid to Humanity in American Samoa is just one part of the global church’s effort, in cooperation with the Church’s charitable arm, the Felix Y. Manalo (FYM) Foundation, to extend aid to the poor and those affected by calamities in various parts of the world.

The most recent natural disaster to strike the US territory was Super Cyclone Gita last February, which packed winds of about 230 kilometers per hour and caused over US$186 million in property damage.
