House Speaker expresses dismay over Barbers-Pichay conflict

(Eagle News)– House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez expressed his disappointment after learning how Surigao del Sur Rep. Prospero Pichay and Surigao del Norte Rep. Ace Barbers almost came to blows after an argument on the House floor.

Hindi magandang panoorin. Hindi dapat nangyari. Siguro naman aahon tayo pagkatapos. At hindi dapat maulit,” Alvarez said.

He said he has no plans of talking to the two congressmen and would leave the issue to the House committee on ethics.

On the other hand, House Majority Floor Leader Rodolfo Fariñas plans to talk to Barbers and Pichay next week.

“I will have to talk to them and ask them what happened. And perhaps if they can have a happy ending about it. Although I read that Congressman Pichay is contemplating of filing a case with the ethics committee. That’s his right,” he said,

Surigao del Norte Rep. Ace Barbers and Surigao del Sur Rep. Prospero Pichay almost brawled it out during a debate before the House committee on constitutional amendments on Wednesday.

Pichay plans to file a complaint against Barbers before the House ethics committee for ‘unparliamentary’ conduct.

Nakahihiya po ang Insitution… dapat din nga mahiya si Congressman Barbers sa kanyang mga constituent … I will file the complaint next week … kasi syempre ihahanda pa natin ang mga document,” Pichay said in a television interview.
