(Eagle News)–Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra has ordered the National Bureau of Investigation to probe the reported sale of hospital passes to inmates at the New Bilibid Prison.
The order came following a GMA news report that said the passes were sold by BuCor officers to inmates who wish to temporarily get out of jail.
The report said the fee included a medical record that would make it appear that the inmate is sick and should be transferred to a less-congested facility “for health reasons.”
Guevarra ordered NBI director Dante Gierran to file the necessary charges if warranted.
The hospital passes for sale report comes amid the controversy involving the release of convicts of heinous crimes through the Good Conduct Time Allowance law.
