(Eagle News)–“Not more than ten” convicts who were released under the Good Conduct Time Allowance Law surrendered following President Rodrigo Duterte’s ultimatum on Wednesday, Sept. 4.
This is according to Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra, who shared the information under questioning by Senator Panfilo Lacson during the third Senate hearing on the GCTA law on Thursday, Sept. 5.
Guevarra, however, refused to give their names.
He said the Department of Justice was also already working on placing the convicts covered by the presidential directive on the immigration watchlist.
The President gave 1700 convicts 15 days to surrender or be treated as a fugitive. With a report from Meanne Corvera
