(Eagle News)–Government employees who physically report to work during the enhanced community quarantine will receive hazard pay.
Administrative order number 26 signed by President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday, March 23, said the hazard pay covers national government agencies including state universities and colleges and government-owned and controlled corporations.
The pay is an amount not exceeding P500 per day of work.
“Personnel who are already entitled to hazard pay, hazardous duty pay, hazard allowance or other similar benefits under existing laws, issuances, rules and regulations such as public health workers, public social workers, science and technology personnel and military and uniformed personnel shall continue to be entitled to such benefits or the COVID-19 hazard pay, whichever is higher,” the order said.
All other qualified people in NGAs and GOCCs who are not included in those categories are also entitled to the pay, the order said.
If the funds for them are insufficient, the pay may be reduced.
The order also encouraged all private hospitals to grant the hazard pay to their staff physically reporting to work.
The order takes effect immediately, after publication in the Official Gazette or a publication of general circulation. With a report from Meanne Corvera
