Government will not hide street children during 31st ASEAN Summit

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) — Malacañang will not clean up the streets of the usual street children during the 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and Related Meetings.

Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Dr. Mitch Cajayon-Uy said that President Rodrigo Duterte personally ordered them not to hide street children during the 31st ASEAN Summit.

Uy said that the President wants other ASEAN leaders to see the real status of the Philippines.

Government said it would not follow what the previous Aquino administration did when it “rescued”  and removed from the streets more than a hundred homeless people, a week before the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in November 2015.
