Gadon: With Sereno out, SC now “liberated from vestiges of yellow cult”

(Eagle News) –Lawyer Larry Gadon hailed the Supreme Court decision to declare Maria Lourdes Sereno’s appointment as Chief Justice nullified, saying the High Court was finally “liberated..from the vestiges of the yellow cult..”

In a statement, Gadon said the “yellow cult,” in the first place, had “for many years..enslaved the people through machinations of deceit , fraud, indoctrination and brainwashing for the advancement and protection of the yellow interest.”

He said Sereno’s removal will “bring back the prestige of the Supreme Court as it will move on without the baggage of a shameful head whose credentials and experience do not come up to the highest standards of the legal profession qualities that would deserve to be placed on the pedestal of being the top among the rest.”

“I dedicate this win to the legacy of Chief Justice Renato Corona. A legacy cut short by the most politically vicious and self-aggrandizing political persecution perpetrated by Noynoy and his ilk,” Gadon said.

Corona was impeached in May 2012 after the Senate, sitting as an impeachment court, ruled he betrayed the public trust and violated the Constitution because of his allegedly unexplained wealth.

Corona had said that with his conviction, “ugly politics” had “prevailed.”

In 2016, Corona died from complications stemming from a heart attack.

Gadon has filed a separate impeachment complaint against Sereno.

House justice panel chair Rey Umali has said that it would continue to process the complaint regardless of the outcome of the quo warranto petition.

If the Articles of Impeachment and the panel report get one third of the votes of the House plenary, they will be transmitted to the Senate, which will convene as an impeachment court.

Senate President Koko Pimentel has said, however, that it would likely vote on whether or not the impeachment trial would proceed if the Supreme Court votes in favor of the quo warranto petition filed by Solicitor General Jose Calida.
