Former MMDA chair advises public to take quake drills seriously

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) — The public should not take for granted the conduct of earthquake drills in preparation for a possible strong quake in Metro Manila, former Metro Manila Development Authority Chairman Atty. Francis Tolentino said in a statement.

Tolentino also advised that earthquake drills should be conducted at least twice a year, and should be part of the school curriculum and as part of the orientation of new employees.

In addition, Tolentino said that buildings should be inspected and retrofitted annually to ensure that they are earthquake-proof.
