WILLIAMS LAKE, BRITISH COLUMBIA, Canada (Reuters) — Firefighters continue to battle what local news describes as the largest wildfire in British Columbia’s history as aerial footage filmed on Monday (August 21) shows a large patch of forest ablaze.
The wildfire has exceeded 1800 square miles (467,000 hectares) in size and stretches in length to some 80 miles (130 kilometers).
British Columbia’s Finance Minister says the cost of battling this historic fire, which two command teams are fighting to manage, is already hundreds of millions of dollars over the estimated budget for the year.
